1986- Started racing Go Karts


1989- Won the North American Enduro Kart Racing Championship


1990- Once again claimed the Enduro Kart Racing Championship. Also won Spenard-David Racing School's year long student trials in Shannonville, Ontario


1991- Rookie of the Year in Esso Protec Formula 1600 series and finished fourth overall (one win, two poles)


1992- USAC Pro FF2000 West Coast Champion and also Rookie of the Year (four wins, four poles)


1994- Youngest driver to hold pole position and win an Indy Car sanctioned event (Indy Lights at Phoenix International Raceway)


1995- Indy Lights Champion (five consecutive wins, ten throughout the whole season, seven pole positions in 12 races, led 375 out of 583 laps, and completed all 847.799 miles). Becomes the all-time win leader for Indy Lights


1996- Moves to CART, drivers for Player's Forsythe Racing. Runner up for Jim Trueman Rookie of the Year Award


1997- Wins the Miluakee Mile, making him the youngest driver to win a CART race (22 years, 1 month, 10 days) until the record was broken in 2001. One week later wins the race in Detroit


1998- Youngest pole position winner (Homestead), and won two races (Rio de Janeiro and U.S 500)


1999- Dominates season opener in Homestead, one win (Homestead), one pole (Homestead)
